Your hero’s voice

A simple way to develop your skills is to model yourself on people you admire and respect. Ray Charles modelled himself on Nat King Cole.  He breathed, ate, drank and tasted Cole day and night until he developed his own style.

Can you breath, eat and taste your hero? Read the books. Get to know him or her better than you know yourself.

And when you read your work in your head, imagine that your hero is saying the words out loud. Now, go back to the beginning of this piece and read it back, imagining your hero’s voice.  What changes?
