Boredom can be a good thing if you are in a creative jam. There is a tendency to think of all writing as a battle. Remember that Hemingway quote ‘Writing is easy. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.’ Well, it doesn’t have to be true.
Instead, think of writing as building a relationship with yourself. You don’t have to fight your writing. This is not bare-knuckle boxing. You don’t need to wrestle with your muse. Slow right down and disconnect. Regard your struggles with curiosity, not tragedy. Sometimes surprising opportunities present themselves when you let go.
